Chapter Five
NEW WORLD RELIGIONWhat motivates the international bankers to establish a global economic system? What drives the world’s politicians and leaders to create a one-world government? What moves the secret societies and their various front organizations to push for global governance? What is the catalyst uniting the peoples of the earth to form the New World Order? If I only had one word with which to answer these questions, it would be theology!
Theology affects us all. It influences everything we do. It is what we believe about God—if He exists, who He is, if or how He interacts with man. Whether it is a lone tribesman in the jungle of some remote region on earth or the most prominent and influential personality on the world scene today, theology is the underlying reason for why we do what we do. You see, at the risk of oversimplifying, one’s theology forms one’s principles in life. One’s theological view determines one’s ideology, which in turn, with regard to those in power and our current subject matter, fashions the political, economic, and social order that one gravitates to and is inclined to implement. Our theology dictates our social behavior, both individually and corporately, and so ultimately shapes our society. The atheists, in denying the existence of God, view love, war, government, the value of human life, death, and a variety of other issues in light of their atheistic perspective. The religious or spiritually minded individuals, in all their different forms, view these same matters in light of their own beliefs. The Christians who rest in only one Savior, the pantheists who trust in many gods, the New Agers who affirm that they are God, or the Satanists who worship Lucifer, all likewise view wealth, government, love, war, life, death, and a variety of other issues in light of their particular persuasion. Theology moves us to worship, and who can deny that it also drives us to war? History as well as current events are replete with examples. I personally believe it is the reason the world is what it is today. Theology divides or brings people together, for good or bad. It is my opinion that nothing motivates us quite like that which affects us spiritually.
How then does this come into play with regard to the New World Order? In the end, the ideology driving the movers and shakers of this world is governed by their theology. In other words, the motivating factor behind the push for world government is a spiritual one. In Revelation 13:1, 4–8, John the apostle wrote:
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy . . . And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (KJV)
Here we see the blend of theology and world power or government as the beast is a ruler over nations, and his rule is linked to divine worship and spiritual matters. Global government, far from being independent of spiritual matters, actually has a spiritual foundation. It is this spiritual underpinning of the new global order that we as believers in the Son of God must be most cautious of.
We live in a day when major changes are taking place all over the earth at all levels of society. With every passing year, new international treaties and agreements are introduced and implemented, which give those pushing for world government increasingly more control over national and local legislation. With every new international law and regulation that is passed, world-governing bodies, like the United Nations, achieve a tighter grip on our personal lives. Along with the political, economic, and social changes they have already implemented, they intend to impact our lives from a spiritual standpoint as well.
The coming world government is ultimately guided by a spiritual vision that, at the moment, is ecumenical in nature and strives to unite all the world’s religions under one roof. This ecumenical movement is viewed by the international governing bodies as essential to the establishment of a global government. With this in mind, they work to influence all levels of society in an effort to set up their global community. It appears that these globalists seek to establish their own version of the kingdom of heaven here on earth. There is a problem with this though; this ecumenical vision and one-world religious system is hostile to the God of the Bible and to those who adhere to His word of truth. Global government, although continuously trumpeting the idea of religious tolerance, has no real patience for the true Bible believer. Essential to the New World Order is a spiritual vision that seeks to exclude the God of the Bible and diminish His influence on the earth. This is reflected in a theology that ultimately, in one form or another, worships the creation over the Creator and an ideology that seeks to establish the rule of man over the earth in a manner contrary to God’s word. Consider again, if you will, the statement once made by Dr. Brock Chisholm, the former director of the World Health Organization:
To achieve world government, it is necessary to remove from the minds of men their individualism, loyalty to family tradition, national patriotism and religious dogmas. We have swallowed all manner of poisonous certainties fed us by our parents, our Sunday and day school teachers, our politicians, our priests, our newspapers and others with vested interest in controlling us. The reinterpretation and eventual eradication of the concept of right and wrong which has been the basis of child training, the substitution of intelligent and rational thinking for the faith in the certainties of the old people, these are the belated objectives . . . for charting the changes in human behavior.
Yet to be free of God is to be a slave to the devil, as evident from Paul’s question in Romans 6:16:
Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness? (NASB)
The Bible does not leave us a third option. Thus, it is clear that the foundation and the motivating factor behind global government is not biblical truth. Its ultimate object of worship is not the God of the Bible but rather Satan (Lucifer) himself. You see, it is not that the globalists want to be free of all gods; they just want to be free of the God of the Bible (Psalm 2:1–3). They are simply attempting to carry out what Lucifer, the god of this world, set into motion long ago. Centuries ago, the Lord spoke through Isaiah saying:
How you are fallen from heaven,
O Lucifer, son of the morning!
How you are cut down to the ground,
You who weakened the nations!
For you have said in your heart:
“I will ascend into heaven,
I will exalt my throne above the stars of God;
I will also sit on the mount of the congregation
On the farthest sides of the north;
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds,
I will be like the Most High.”
Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol,
To the lowest depths of the Pit. (Isaiah 14:12–15 NKJV)
Lucifer’s quest will ultimately end in failure, as will the kingdom set up in his honor. In the meantime, man moves forward (if we can call it that) with his spiritual agenda. The following is a very brief description of some of the theology and doctrines motivating some of the major religious organizations connected with the New World Order.
