On Nation at a Crossroads

Now that you are here, allow me to tell you a little bit about NATION AT A CROSSROADS—how it came to be, what we are about, and what our mission is.

If you have turned on your television lately, kept up with social media, or ventured outside, then chances are you have noticed that this world appears to be going crazy. From natural disasters to man-made woes, things are a mess. There is turmoil just about everywhere we look these days—both here in the US and abroad. Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, wildfires, tornadoes, wars and rumors of wars, political unrest, social upheaval, economic uncertainties and so forth—the list of what is wrong with this world goes on and on. And if we are not sure how to make heads or tails of what is happening in the earth today, if we do not know where it is all headed, it can all seem very confusing, disheartening, and dare I say frightening. We are living in a day when the moral and spiritual condition of mankind seems to be in free fall—a time when good is called evil and evil is called good. These are perilous times. Unfortunately, and as difficult as it may be for some to believe, they are only just beginning. However, the Bible prophesied that these days would come. Fortunately for us, the Bible also declares that there is hope. That hope is in the soon return of our Savior Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Mashiach).

This is where NATION AT A CROSSROADS comes in. You see, I believe (as many others do) that we are living in the last days. I also believe that in these last days we stand at a crossroads not only as a nation but as God’s Church (in all its denominations) and as its individual members in particular. The crossroads we face is a spiritual one—one that calls us to return to our Lord before He returns to us. A long time ago, the LORD presented man with a choice—a choice between life and death. God has done all He can to encourage man to choose life. He has provided us a Savior, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Mashiach), and calls all men everywhere to repent. Yet one of the problems I see today is that much of what we all currently know as the Church appears to be lacking a definitive and absolute moral compass. It seems to be plagued with the same moral and spiritual corruption we find everywhere else in today’s society. There is sin everywhere, and many so called Christians are living shallow, materialistic, and self-centered lives. While this is not true of the global assembly of believers everywhere, it certainly appears to be true of the vast majority of believers in America. Add to this the current fractured condition of God’s Church and the hundreds or thousands of denominations that exist (each preaching their own version of God’s truth), and it becomes apparent that the vast assembly of believers in the United States of America are not yet quite ready for our Lord’s return. There remain some things to be done and some issues to be dealt with if we hope to get our house in order and to be ready for His appearing. We have some repenting to do, and getting back to the roots of our Christian faith will assist us in that process. We have failed to discern the truth from lies and it is time that we learn the difference. It is a matter of life and death, and it may mean the difference between falling away and enduring to the end in what, no doubt, will be difficult days ahead.

When our Lord walked the streets of Jerusalem the first time, He came to die for our sins. Scripture tells us that when He returns, He is coming to judge the nations. The Bible also tells us that He is returning for His people—a people of godly integrity, united in the faith—a bride without spot or blemish. This is the great hope of all who anticipate His return.

So it is our desire at NATION AT A CROSSROADS not only to introduce the lost to Jesus (Yeshua) our Savior but also to reintroduce believers to the Hebraic roots of our Christian faith and to encourage God’s people everywhere to live biblically sound and godly lives as the day of our Lord’s appearing draws near.

Now you may ask, “Why the Hebraic roots?” So let me address this question. Simply put, it is the only method of Scripture interpretation that we have found that actually puts us back in touch with God’s word in the manner that He originally proposed. It is the only method of Scripture interpretation that we have found that truly allows the Bible to speak for itself without the interruption of denominational biases, that reconciles all denominational differences, and that truly makes us one in the Messiah. An understanding of the Hebraic roots of our faith, among other things, helps to define what true biblical Christianity looks like and gives us the understanding of Scripture we need to live biblically sound and godly lives. It also helps us to more accurately discern the times in which we live as well as our role as believers in these last days, and helps to ensure that we are prepared to stand among the righteous before our God and Savior when that day finally comes.

We are not the only ministry of this kind. There are many excellent ministries out there doing what we do, and perhaps even better. We simply feel moved to join others who, like watchmen on a wall, are sounding the alarm. “The time is late! It is time to wake up!”

It is our goal at NATION AT A CROSSROADS to encourage God’s people to personal spiritual growth through the teaching of God’s word and to promote unity among believers in the Son of God (not in spite of Scripture but in light of it) by pointing us back to the truth of the Bible as embodied in Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha’Mashiach) and as our Lord’s own words proclaim in John 17:19, 21: “…that they also might be sanctified through the truth….That they all may be one.”

In His love,
John Quiles
